Eni Gets Green light for TAG Pipeline Expansion
The Trans Austria Gasleitung (TAG) pipeline which transports Russian gas to Italy through Austria will be expanded. By 2008, the transport capacity will be increased not less than 3.2 billion cubic metres per year, and the additional capacity will be allocated on a non-discriminatory basis under a procedure starting in September 2005.
The investment for the expansion of the TAG pipeline amounts to 130 million euro and works will be carried out by TAG GmbH, a company jointly owned by Eni and the Austrian company OMV.
The TAG pipeline, built in the early 70's and subsequently expanded, currently has an overall transport capacity of about 32.5 billion cubic metres per year.
Completion of the operation is subject to the approval of the competent anti-trust authorities.
