Hydro's Technal Plans Expansion of Operations in Ireland
Hydro is planning to expand its aluminium building systems operations in Ireland. Since opening its Irish office three years ago, Hydro's brand name company Technal has doubled its sales on the Emerald Isle.
Technal's plans for Ireland include the relocation to new, larger premises at Tougher Business Park in Naas and a number of appointments in the area of sales and technical support.
"Our investment in an independent base for Technal in Ireland in 2002, and the move to offering our systems direct, have resulted in us more than doubling our market share in that short time. This is a fantastic achievement and a real credit to the team," says general manager Bob Welsh.
"The move is further evidence of the success of our customer-focused approach in both the UK and Ireland. We remain committed to achieving shorter lead times and the highest quality standards, and providing a reliable and efficient service to fabricators, architects and contractors," he adds.
The demand for aluminium building systems is rising in every sector and Technal is broadening its product range in response to the changing requirements of both specifiers and fabricators.
"The volume of curtain walling sales is growing as a reflection of the move towards more sheer and transparent buildings. Architects increasingly want a greater proportion of glass to maximise natural light, and specifications have become more technically demanding," says Welsh. "We are undertaking more design work at the earlier stages of a project to help specifiers achieve the best practical solution as well as the right aesthetics."
In addition to Technal, the business unit Hydro Building Systems includes the Domal and Wicona brands.
