Statoil Award Contract to Vetco Aibel for Statfjord Late Life Project

Statoil has awarded Vetco Aibel a modification contract for the Statfjord Late Life project on Statfjord A. The value of the contract is MUSD 100 (MNOK 600).

The scope of the contract is engineering, procurement, fabrication and installation of a major modification project on the Statfjord A platform in the North Sea. The platform is today handling oil with associated gas. As a result of the project the platform will be modified to handle gas with associated oil.

"We are grateful for the confidence Statoil has shown us by awarding us this contract, which is a part of the biggest and most complex modification project in Statoil's history," says Erling Matland, President of Vetco Aibel. "Our focus will, as always on complex projects like this, be on HSE, in a close cooperation between Statoil and our staff, both onshore and offshore."

The contract has a relative long duration, with start up of engineering immediately and commencement of offshore work in Autumn of this year. The project duration will be for a period of four years, conducted in parallel with full operations on the platform.

Signing of the final contract documents is scheduled for April 20th 2005.
