AMEC-Black & McDonald JV Signs Contract with EPCOR
AMEC and its joint venture partner, Black & McDonald, has won a Cdn $11 million contract with EPCOR for the design, supply and installation of the electrical collection, transmission system, switching and control equipment for the Kingsbridge Wind Power Project.
The Kingsbridge Wind Power Project, near Goderich, Ontario, is one of five wind projects awarded in November 2004 by the Ontario Ministry of Energy under its first round of Renewable Energy Supply contracts. When completed, the 39.6 megawatt facility is expected to produce 104,000 megawatt hours of electricity annually, sufficient energy to service an average of 12,500 homes.
The AMEC/Black & McDonald joint venture is working closely with Vestas on the realization of this project. Vestas will supply, install and commission 22 - 1.8 megawatt V80 wind turbine generators. Vestas will also be responsible for the warranty, maintenance and service operations of the turbines.
This contract win follows AMEC's successful implementation of the Huron Wind project, Ontario's first wind farm. AMEC is also providing system impact assessment and preliminary design services for several proposed renewable energy projects in Ontario and other eastern provinces.
