Fluor to Complete New Mexico Power Plant
Fluor is to complete the Luna Energy Facility located near Deming, New Mexico. Tucson Electric Power Company, Phelps Dodge Energy Services, LLC, and a development subsidiary of PNM Resources have chosen Fluor to finish work at the 570-megawatt, combined cycle power plant, which was 50 percent complete when construction was stopped by the original owner in 2002.
Under terms of the contract, Fluor will provide engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning.
"We are extremely pleased to be chosen for completion of the Luna Energy Facility," said Bob Mickey, senior vice president of Power, a unit within Fluor's Energy & Chemicals group. "The expertise and capabilities of Fluor's employees are a perfect fit for this work. This award will allow us to effectively support our client's objectives for the Luna Energy Facility."
Construction began this month, and employees in Fluor's Houston office are working to complete the project by summer 2006.
