Mustang Sets Up Asia-Pacific Base in Australia
Mustang Engineering, a subsidiary of John Wood Group, has extended its global presence with the establishment of operations in the Asia-Pacific region, based in Perth and Melbourne, Australia.
Mustang's entry into Australia is being facilitated by Frontier Engineering Solutions Asia-Pacific, a sister Wood Group company known for its participating in conceptual studies for offshore facilities. Frontier will be re-branded as Mustang Engineering Pty Ltd., and its capabilities will include front end and detail design services, in addition to conceptual studies.
Mustang has assumed operational management of Frontier offices in both Perth and Melbourne, and the official rebranding to Mustang is expected to be complete by the end of first quarter 2005. There are approximately 30 employees in Perth and 12 in Melbourne.
"These are very important steps for both Mustang and Wood Group," said David Phillips, vice president-Asia Pacific, Mustang International. "It will help Wood Group broaden its world-class engineering service, while facilitating further expansion throughout the region for Mustang."
Chet Nelson, most recently as project manager for the ExxonMobil Zafiro project, is to lead Mustang's management team in Australia.
