Saipem Wins New Offshore Contract in Kazakhstan
Saipem has been awarded the contract for the installation of the offshore facilities system relating to the experimental phase of the Kashagan field development programme. The Kashagan field is located in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea.
The contract, awarded by Agip KCO operator of the North Caspian Sea Production Sharing Agreement (PSA), has a total value of approximately USD286 million.
The scope of work includes the fabrication, assembly, transport and installation of 45 piles and 2 flares, with a total weight of some 15,000 tons, along with the installation of 16 module barges. The piles and flares will be fabricated in the newly developed Ersai yard located in the Kuryk area of Kazakhstan, a yard in which Saipem has a participation of 50 per cent. The scope of work also includes the procurement, fabrication and installation of associated mooring and protection structures.
The installation activities, which are scheduled to be completed within 2007, will be carried out using a new purpose-built construction barge.
