Subsea 7 Secures IRM works in Indonesia for BP

Subsea 7 LogoSubsea 7 has been awarded a series of contracts by Stolt Offshore subsidiary PT Komaritim (PTK), in support of its recently acquired subsea operations services contract for BP West Java Ltd. The two year contract, with a further one year option, is worth in excess of US$24 million and will be performed by Subsea 7's Integrated Remote Technologies division.

PTK will be the primary contractor responsible for the inspection, repair and maintenance of BP's facilities in West Java, Indonesia. The contract will be managed by a dedicated project team based in Jakarta with additional personnel mobilised for specific campaigns.

Under the contract, Subsea 7's IRT division will be responsible for the provision of ROV based inspection and maintenance tasks principally deployed from Subsea 7's DP2 support vessel DSND Surveyor which will have both workclass and inspection class ROVs mobilised. Meanwhile, PTK will be responsible for the provision of diving services during the inspection and maintenance tasks. Any repair work which results from the contract may lead to potential utilisation of Subsea 7's dive support vessel Rockwater 2.

During the first Campaign of the contract, the data acquisition will include the inspection of 74 jackets and over 500 kilometres of pipelines using ROVs. The work also includes pipeline route surveys and geophysical site surveys. This phase of the project is expected to commence in December 2004 and will last for three to four months. The maintenance campaign including both saturation and air diving work will be mobilised early 2005. All the work will be in the ONJW field which is located northeast of Jakarta. The majority of the field is in water depths less than 50m.
