De Ruyter Development Contracts Awarded by Petro-Canada
Petro-Canada has awarded the main fabrication and installation contract to Heerema Zwijndrecht BV and Allseas for the De Ruyter oil field development in the southern North Sea on the Dutch Continental Shelf. First oil at De Ruyter is expected in the second half of 2006 with gross peak production of around 25 000 to 30 000 barrels per day in 2007.
Heerema was awarded a combined contract for fabrication, installation and hook-up of the 4300 tonne integrated production deck and the 12500 tonne dry weight gravity based structure. The IPD will be built in Zwijndrecht in The Netherlands.
The construction of a 29 kilometre gas export pipeline and 1.5 km oil loading pipeline to a tanker mooring and loading system were awarded to Allseas.
The De Ruyter field straddles blocks P10 and P11b, which are both operated by Petro-Canada. It is located approximately 60 kms northwest of The Hague, in water depth of around 35 metres. Petro-Canada and Energie Beheer Nederland, the state participant, are partners in the field.
The cost of the development is in the order of Euros300 million. The chosen development option is a GBS platform installation with storage capacity of 150 000 barrels. The De Ruyter development will initially consist of three production wells. Oil export will be via offshore loading to a shuttle tanker, and gas export is via third-party facilities to shore.
