Kvaerner Pulping To Modernise Brazilian Pulp Mill
Kvaerner Pulping AB has through its subsidiary Kvaerner do Brasil has signed a contract with Aracruz Celulose S.A. to modernise the bleach and recausticizing plants at the Guaiba mill (former Riocell) in Brazil, an order worth USD12m.
The order is part of a modernisation and capacity increase project run at Aracruz Guaiba, with intention to enhance the nominal capacity to 430,000 tonnes bleached eucalyptus pulp per year.
The modernised bleach plant will comprise a three-stage bleaching sequence, including a new COMPACT PRESS(TM). The recausticizing plant, equipped with a new PDW(TM) filter as well as a new lime mud filter, will produce 5,200 m3 white liquor per day after the rebuild.
The Kvaerner Pulping delivery is on an engineering, procurement and construction basis. Start-up is scheduled to November 2005.
