Aker Kvaerner Sign LOI for Methanol Plant
Statoil has signed a letter of intent with Aker Kvaerner Netherlands B.V. for pre-engineering for the planned expansion of the methanol plant at Tjeldbergodden, Norway. The letter of intent also includes an option for detailed engineering and support for follow-up at the construction site. The assignment, including the option, has a value of more than NOK 100m.
Statoil is planning to expand the methanol plant by 35 per cent in addition to building a gas power plant at Tjeldbergodden. The final investment decision is expected to be made by early 2006, and the operation is planned to start mid-2008.
The purpose of pre-engineering is to prepare a basis for the investment decision and to plan the next phase.
