Petrobas Package Win for Weir
Petrobras have ratified a contract for a 300,000 barrel/day Sulphate Removal Package (SRP) placed by the FSTP Consortium on Weir Westgarth Ltd, part of the Techna Division of The Weir Group PLC.
The package will provide more than 300,000 barrels per day of low sulphate seawater for injection into the oil well. Design will be carried out at Weir Westgarth's Glasgow base with detail design support from their Brasilian fabricator.
Petrobas is the operator of the Roncador Field approximately 400km east of Brasil in the South Atlantic Ocean. The FSTP consortium, a consortium between Fels Setal and Technip, is responsible for the topsides on the P52 Floating Production Unit (FPU) to be located in the Roncador Field.
This order continues Weir Westgarth's success in the provision of SRP's to the offshore oil industry with this the third order in six months following the award of SRPs to EnCana Buzzard and BP Plutonio. The project is known as "P52".
Delivery of the package which will include other Weir Group products will start later this year and be completed during the first quarter of 2005.
